Frequently Asked Questions
-
I provide counseling for individuals and couples who deal with relationship problems, anxiety, depression, trauma, stress, communication issues, emotional disconnection, and difficult life transitions.
My style is warm, honest, and practical. I believe therapy should help you understand what is happening, but it should also help you take steps toward change.
Whether you are struggling personally or in your relationship, counseling can help you slow down, gain clarity, and begin responding in healthier ways.
-
Yes. I work with couples who are struggling with communication, conflict, emotional distance, trust issues, jealousy, resentment, and feeling disconnected.
Many couples come to therapy because they feel like they keep having the same argument repeatedly. Couples counseling can help you understand the deeper pattern underneath the conflict and learn how to communicate in a way that feels safer, clearer, and more respectful.
The goal is not to blame one person. The goal is to understand the cycle you are both caught in and begin making changes.
-
Yes. Counseling can help with anxiety, depression, stress, overthinking, low motivation, sadness, irritability, and feeling emotionally overwhelmed.
Many people try to push through these feelings alone. Therapy gives you a place to talk honestly about what you are carrying and begin learning healthier ways to cope, think, and respond.
You do not have to wait until things get worse before asking for support.
-
Yes. I work with clients who have experienced trauma, painful childhood experiences, relationship wounds, abandonment, emotional neglect, and other difficult life events.
Trauma can affect the way you see yourself, the way you trust others, and the way you react in relationships. Counseling can help you better understand those patterns and begin healing at a pace that feels safe and respectful.
-
Yes. I provide counseling in both English and Spanish.
Sí. Ofrezco consejería en inglés y en español.
For many people, being able to express emotions in their preferred language makes therapy feel more natural and meaningful. Whether you are more comfortable in English, Spanish, or both, we can work in the language that feels right for you.

The first session is about getting to know you and understanding what brings you to therapy.
We will talk about what has been difficult, what you have tried so far, and what you would like to change. You do not need to have perfect words. You do not need to have everything figured out. We will take it one step at a time.
The first session is also a chance for you to see if you feel comfortable with my counseling style.
-
No. Therapy is not only for a crisis.
Many people come to counseling because they feel stuck, disconnected, confused, emotionally tired, or ready to make changes. Sometimes people come because their relationship is struggling. Others come because they want to understand themselves better.
You do not have to be falling apart to benefit from therapy.
-
The length of therapy depends on your situation, your goals, and the concerns you want to address.
Some people come for short-term counseling focused on a specific issue. Others benefit from longer-term therapy to work through deeper emotional patterns, trauma, or relationship struggles.
We can talk about your goals and decide together what makes sense for you.
-
Yes. Even if your partner is not ready for couples therapy, individual counseling can still help.
You can work on understanding your own reactions, setting healthier boundaries, communicating more clearly, and deciding how you want to move forward. Sometimes change begins when one person decides to respond differently.
-
Feeling nervous is normal.
Many people worry about being judged, not knowing what to say, or opening up about painful things. My goal is to create a respectful and supportive space where you can talk honestly without feeling pressured to be perfect.
You can start where you are.
-
My counseling style is compassionate, direct, and practical.
I care about helping people feel understood, but I also believe therapy should lead to action. We will talk about your emotions, your thoughts, your relationships, and your patterns, but we will also focus on what can be done differently.
Healing often begins with awareness, but growth requires action.
Think about it and take action.
-
Yes. What you share in counseling is private and treated with care.
